In lifting, traversing, and control technology, there are both electrical and non-electrical components and parts that can trigger an explosion in an explosive environment. Therefore, STAHL CraneSystems offers equipment specially designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres due to gas or dust. As already mentioned in the introduction, STAHL CraneSystems' production is characterized by a very high degree of vertical integration at its headquarters in Künzelsau. Zentratec, on the other hand, is continuously developing a growing market in the American Continent. The range of wire rope and chain hoists on offer is highly versatile with respect to their broad spectrum of applications in explosive environments. STAHL CraneSystems' wire rope hoist program for Ex zones features a modular design, allowing for both standard versions and custom solutions tailored to special requirements, all based on standard components.
Cable hoists are available in 5 sizes and 27 load capacity ranges from 1000 kg to 160,000 kg, and are designed for use in Zone 1 and Zone 21. Alternatively, wire rope hoists can also be designed for Zones 2 and 22.
The product range includes an extremely wide variety of designs: stationary lifting or pulling equipment, monorail trolleys, monorail and birail trolleys for bridge cranes, and special systems. The hoists require no maintenance, exhibit low wear and tear, and therefore offer a very long service life.

The explosion-protected chain hoists from STAHL CraneSystems are suitable for applications in Zone 1 or Zone 21. They can also be designed for Zone 22. The chain hoists are available in 7 sizes with 13 load capacity ranges, from 125 kg to 6300 kg, and feature a patented suspension directly on the chain guide.

The control pendant stations, in all their different versions, are specifically designed to operate hoists and cranes in explosive environments. The contactor elements themselves feature a 'de' type pressure-resistant encapsulation. Operation is usually two-step and allows for a rapid switching of
«rápido» a «lento» y viceversa.

All components of STAHL CraneSystems' wire rope and chain hoists come from their own production centers; from the motor and brakes to the control system and pendant station. This ensures optimal and high-quality protection against explosions.

Stahl CraneSystems' Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) lifting equipment is offered with four safety levels, starting with Level 1, featuring high safety, moving to Level 2, with two wire rope drums operating in parallel, up to Level 3A with a redundant hoist, and Level 3B with cushioned and oscillating suspension. Stahl CraneSystems' Level 3B LNG wire rope hoists are currently regarded as the safest explosion-protected lifting equipment on the market.
